Well I got around to doing a full examination of Lucy's leg and found a bad puncture wound in her right rear paw most likely from purple loosestrife. She was not lame in the morning so I'm hoping it not the CCL. Labs are as rough as nails. I can't imagine the pain and continuing to hunt.

That's promising news about Lucy. Did I mention that was my mothers name? You're right, labs are tough. On our second day we were hunting west of Hitchcock and after about two hours into the hunt I noticed that Parker was limping and favoring his left front paw. What I found was about 30 tiny sand burrs imbedded between his toes. He is without a doubt the toughest lab I've ever had the pleasure to hunt with but this did him in for the day. After removal and an liberal application of EMT gel he was kenneled until the next day. 24 hours later he was back on the job, a little tender but determined to get the job done.

Much "better" than an ACL tear. Still not good tho.

And hope Anne is doing OK.

Hope your wife feels well soon. That is no fun.

Our season is less than a month away now and I can hardly wait. Added several new waterfowl guns to the safe this year, so need to decide which one goes first.
