So the taxidermist met up with me today and delivered new mounts for my room. Everything was taken last season with a Fox. Click twice to expand the pics.
Female bird on a piece of white birch from a tree across from the cabin
Decent cock bird from a memorable snow hunt last year
Here's my start of a "A Fox gets the Game" diorama. Temporary mount until I can get piece of an old rail fence and another hanging bird and the red fox of course. Hard to see on this pic is that the bird has a rufous ruff, only the second one I've taken.
Good hunting to all this year!

Frank, those are beautiful. Something tells me you have a really impressive game room.
Shoot vintage firearms, relax, and have fun.

How big a piece of fence rail do you need, Frank?
Great mounts, and a worthy project.

Re: New mounts for the game room
Thanks everyone for the feedback. Mounts are by a new to me taxidermist recommended by a friend. Jeff, the game room is just OK, an accumulation of some memories and inspiration for new times out hunting. Stan, I know where there's an old rail fence in one of my grouse haunts and I'll carry out a short section or two this year. It's about 1/2 mile from where I can park. I might try a packframe to keep it vertical while holding the Fox at ready.
