Re: Kansas a few years ago.
Unfortunately the pheasant numbers seem to be going down every year. Quail numbers on WHIA are down as well. Still can get into a few coveys on some private ground we have access to. A couple of things I’ve heard, that pheasants can’t self regulate their internal temperature when it’s over 104 ambie...

Kansas a few years ago.
Hunting with my dog’s Cody and Otto. With my 12ga AE quail gun, 7 lbs. choked C/M. Was a great day. Hope to get out with them again this year.

Re: The old boy produced again (c:
Well done. Nice photo. Where in KS were you? I've always wanted to be able to find roosters and quail in the same area. The area we’re in is very hit and miss for both species, especially on WIHA aka walk in areas. Last year I never shot a pheasant. We have access to some limited private ground tha...

The old boy produced again (c:
Was able to get a true double on the pheasants and also a double on the quail, down in Kansas. Otto is having a blast. Other than the cut on his front leg.

Re: Jim Demunck
I’m usually not one for gold inlays but have been thinking of possibly having a gold woodcock added to the top lever of the gun in honor of Mr. Gournet. As he was pretty well known for his little bog sucker (c;

Re: Jim Demunck
Hey Bill, I truly appreciate it. I was leaning towards an early DE pattern similar to one that Tut had Gournet do for him. Then I saw The Quail Gun that Jim did for CSMC and changed my mind. I really fell in love with Jim’s work. I have attached some pictures of Jim’s Quail Gun. If you have any pict...

I have a 20ga custom Fox project I’m hoping gets started this summer. Was planning on using Gournet for the engraving )c: I’m just wondering about other engravers and have seen some work that Mr. Demunck has done that I liked. Does anyone know if he is still doing engraving work and if he will do co...

Re: Cody backing Mogey.
Thanks Jim. He’s a fun one to watch run.
1st picture is probably 20 yards. Second is about 40 yards. In the video just before the picture he is running a fence line and can’t see the setter as soon as comes around and sees the dog he locked up.
These pics were both down in Kansas.

Re: Cody backing Mogey.
This made the trip worthwhile for me. Som dogs need to be trained to back I think it helps to run youn dogs occasionally in braces to help bring out their backing. Cody was a natural backer at 6 months old. I have a video of this still showing him backing my friends setter. But I can’t post the video.

Got this pic of my dog backing. As my old friend went into flush the covey I said it’s a skunk. I didn’t think he would fall for it but he went to grab the dogs collar rather than shoot at a large covey
