It has been in the 70's the past two days, making for some difficult hunting for the dogs, but we were able to find some birds.

So, one day a nice big golden retriever "stud" was strolling through the park strutting his stuff. A cute little poodle caught his eye, and she gave him a wink. Next thing you know, a whole litter of Golden Doodles were born.Jim Cloninger wrote:One of my hunting partners has a "hunting stock" Poodle. What makes your dog a "Golden" Poodle? His dog will find birds in the uplands, but is not a reliable retriever. His dog does not like being in the water, so duck hunting is out.

I agree the birds do seem to be scattered. I did find a group of 5 young birds.Silvers wrote:Thanks Fan for taking the time to post. Great day I'll bet even though our weather is unseasonably warm. I like your dogs! I was out last Thursday afternoon and only found one grouse that flushed a little too far out, birds seem to be really scattered so far this season. Though I did run into a friend who works in those woods who told me about seeing birds in a particular cut area that was a little too far to drive to/hunt in the remaining daylight. Next time, later this week. I did however come home with a good ringneck on opportunity while walking out of a favorite cover.

When he caught on to retrieving quick I thought that he would make a duck dog, but he hates the water. He might have had a bad experience as a pup.Jim Cloninger wrote:One of my hunting partners has a "hunting stock" Poodle. What makes your dog a "Golden" Poodle?
