I have noticed the bosses on some SW's come to a point, and others are more rounded. Is this due to wear, a change of design, or manufacturing variance?

Also, the lower corner of the stock checkering is sometime rounded and sometimes not.

The rounded panel was the style on the first Sterlingworths. This style is also marked "The Sterlingworth Co. and had a pin style hinge pin. About 800 Sterlingworths in this style were made. The Philadelphia era guns had flat top checkering, late savage guns had pointed up checkering. see this page on our web site for examples.
