Top lever trip slipping. Won't hold lever to right.

Stripped and cleaned action with no issues. All parts function correctly (fires, safety works, gun cocks, etc.) except the lever won't stay to the right on opening. The trip spring is installed, trigger plate screw is snug, and the trip flats are facing rear and on the right. When the lever is opened it rotates the trip just enough to slide off and close the lever. What gives? It was holding open when I installed the screwed in the front tang screw.
