I am curious about 16 Ga. • 2 1/2" • Semi AutoMatic A-5 • Vel. 1200 • 1 oz. Load - from RST. I know and use the Lite 1oz loads but curious what these loads would be like in my Sterlingworth. I assume more recoil and are they more pressure? I sent an email to RST and the answer was that the A5 loads were for an A5 and that is all they said. I haven't had my Sterlingworth to long and due to health problems and no birds here in Kansas, I haven't used it on Pheasants. I am asking the question because in 50 years of hunting pheasants here in Kansas I haven't seen very many hunters using light loads. Most use 12ga. express loads because a Pheasant is an easy target but hard to kill many times. Once again, based on comments from members in this forum, I am confident the RST Lites are fine but I wonder if these A5's would be a little more effective for Pheasants. Also, with the hotter powder in the A5 loads, I would expect more velocity. I am sure your replies will set me straight on my questions.

i would have to assume more "kick" to cycle the A5 recoil action

there would be less concern about pressure in an A5

so I would take them at their word, the round is meant for the A5, there are other loads for the Sterlingworth with the same 1200fps velocity

I have modified all of my A-5s to shoot 7/8 ounce 12 gauge loads. If I wanted to shoot 50 yard pheasants, I guess I would "unmodify" them.

But, you would have to add range (distance) to that "list". Downrange energy, all other things the same, is constantly decreasing as range increases.
