best to leave it alone...depending on where the bulge is, it may or may not be still safe to shoot...and working barrel steel weakens it...seek professional help...gunter pfrommer in va is highly recommended...

Where might the bulge be? PS. If it close to the muzzle then it might be repairable. Closer to the breech is much more problematic if not impossible to repair.

Bulged tubes can be difficult to repair correctly, especially if it is a full ring bulge that goes all the way around the tube. Those cannot be fixed without taking the barrel set apart.
You may want to contact John Hosford. I know he was having success with removing bulges from barrels. He certainly would have more knowledge from experience on the topic to lend to you.

It is toward the choke end of the barrel.

Maybe fixable there. Brian is correct for sure. Contact Jon Hosford and let him take a look at them.

Bulged barrels can sometimes be fixed, if they're not cracked somewhere in the bulge. The bigger question is, is it worth the cost, for a Sterlingworth? We're talking about removing the ribs, removing the bulge, relaying the ribs, and rebluing. Big repair bill. My answer, after going through this deal before is, No.

I have owned this gun for a while, as I remember it is one of the earliest Sterlingworth serial numbers that had an ejector Barrell. Thank you all for your input.
