Sear spring change?

Okay Fox experts, check out this pic of two sear springs. Top one is from an early 1909 gun. Bottom spring is undated but later.

The early spring doesn't have the reverse curve that the later one does. Early one gives heavier trigger pulls.

Any ideas why the change was made? Silvers

Silvers,

I have a 1907/1908 (86XX) A grade with the top spring and a 1909 (140XX) CE grade with the bottom spring.

Silvers,

Another point, the A grade has the trigger pin in about the middle of the
lower plate trapezoid and the CE grade has the trigger pin at the foreward
bottom of the trapezoid--entirely different than the A grade. The triggers
are also different.

FOXsan, thank you. You are correct about the trigger pivot being different. I've had many of all vintages apart and never noticed that myself. Obviously the different geometry would require a different spring. For those of you reading this thread, here's what FOXsan is referring to. Pic is of the 1909 gun. You can see the trigger pivot hole about centered in the pyramid and the long sear spring tang bearing down on the top of the left sear.

Incidentally I straightened the spring tang to make it bear more evenly after this pic was taken. Silvers

Silvers,

Thanks for the compliment.

If you have an assembled frame (no stock) that has the forward trigger
pivot pin, would you mind sending me a side photo of the trapezoid, sear,
trigger safety arms and the safety slide and autosafety/safety block.

On my CE the safety block has the step facing forward (causes a problem
with the auto safety rod interface) and the trigger safety arms appear to
have been narrowed as the contact surface is only 1/8th inch long.

When viewing the disassembly video, one can see the long face of the
safety block facing forward--I believe this is the correct positioning.

The trigger safety arms on my A grade have a contact surface of about
1/4 inch.

Thanks for your help.

Foxsan, sorry for the delay. This is the best I can do. It's a long story. Camera is goofed up - color balance is wrong, also hand held, no tripod. I hope these pics help. Frank

Thanks for the photos.

I believe all of the photos are of a pin in the center of the trapezoid gun?

This is most helpful. If in the future you by chance can take a photo, like
the last two, of a gun with a pin located in the lower front of the trapezoid,
it would be most appreciated. I believe the front pin model has the safety
block riveted to the safety spring rather the a bent safety spring as shown.

Again, thanks for your excellent responses to my requests.
