Ever seen a safety like this?

Dave Furman's question about whether safety buttons were blued or cased prompted me to check the only one I own that
might be original. It's really more subtle than it appears in the photo, since I've never noticed before, but the slide seems to be puposely canted. It's very well done. I have to admit, now that I'm aware, it feels pretty comfortable.
Very strange that someone would do something like that on an otherwise nondescript A grade. It has the original wood and hasn't been altered in any other obvious way. If you were going to personalize a Fox, wouldn't you think of a number of ways other than modifying the safety button?
Sorta like owning a tan, 4-door sedan with a stick shift on the column and no radio, but a remore control side mirror.

I'm thinking left handed shooter? Just a thought, my Dad was left handed and always commented on things made for righties back in those days.

My guess is it's not done on purpose. This is probably one that was misshapen either in the machining or filing process that slipped through during the final inspection.
The other possibility is it's bent and just looks like it was made that way. It does seem to have a small ding on the lower left corner.
Just a WAG?

Mike I was just going thru the safe and could not find any that had a safety canted like that. Did you letter the gun? it woud be interesting to hear if others had a safety like this. Paul

Mike,I have a model"1911" with a safety like that.Seems like it's meant to be that way.My 20 gauge isnt like that, but the 12 sterlingworth is.

Wow, that's interesting. And I agree, it sure looks intentional, I'm just not sure yet about factory original.
One day soon I'll take the stock off and it will be interesting to see the effect on the innards of the safety. If you were to modify an original to achieve the cant, seems you'd have to remove the tab that extends down through the tang and links the button to the safety mechanism, mill metal off the flat underside of the button, and reattach the tab. Only the tab would need to be perpendicular to the tang and wouldn't be perpendicular to the base anymore.
Paul, I haven't tried for a letter yet, but I might.
