Non-toxic load alternatives

Hello all,

I attempted to purchase some RST Bismuth 2.5" 1oz #6 shells a little while back from ballistic resource. They have been on backorder since I ordered them in late June and the other day I got a call saying that they could not fill the order. My question is, does anyone know of a similar load from another company that is safe to shoot in a 131xxx Sterlingworth with 2 5/8" chambers? I have been told that 2.75" is safe if it was designed for older guns and I have some "Classic Doubles" 1oz 2.75" non-toxic loads but I am wondering if there is anything else out there for these guns since it seems that the RST non-toxic shells may be harder to come by than I first thought.

I appreciate any help,

Thank you

Have you checked the availability of RIO Bismuth? I have used it in the past, but I can't remember who I ordered in from. You didn't mention where you will be hunting, but if you invite me along, I'll loan you 5 of my RST's. :)

I think I bought it from Able's Ammo once, but I don't know if they have any. It always seems a little scarce.

Have you tried RST directly?

I looked into buying directly from RST a while back and they were out of stock but I just checked and they have them in now. I'll go ahead and buy a box but I am curious about other sources. I haven't tried the Rio shells but they seem a little hot compared to the RSTs. I know a lot of people tend to baby these guns a little more than really necessary but the last thing I want is to crack a stock or wear out the action. Do any of you have experience with the Rio shells and are they a viable alternative to RSTs?

I have not but I wish I had looked into them. Are you shooting 12ga? I bought a case of Kent bismuth last year for my 16's for the non-tox areas in South Dakota; they're 2-3/4 - 1300fps, but I don't shoot many so I figured they'd be OK. I see the Rio 16's are 1200fps. I love RST shells but I'd have to take out a second mortgage to buy a case of those  !

I am shooting a 12 gauge. Not a huge fan of the cost of the RST shells but I don't shoot a ridiculous volume of shells so its not too bad
