Count Down to South Zone Opener

Duck season opens in Michigan's southern zone on October 13th. I trudged across the marsh to the little pond this afternoon to get ready. The cattails have encroached so much that my blind is now 15 ft. from the edge of the pond. It took awhile to clear a good shooting zone, but it should work for opening day. Good luck to everyone. Jeff nice looking marsh, our opener is October 27th. Have you decided on your opening day gun? Craig

Oh, I'll be using my cherished B/C Hybrid. I really like carrying that gun and both barrels are choked about .031" so it works pretty well for ducks. While trudging across the marsh I carry it in a case to avoid unfortunate mishaps or the occasional rain drop. If the weather is really bad, I'll resort to my Benelli, but that's only if it's pouring. Will Lucy be bringing her young protege with her on the 27th?

Jeff: No Nellie in the duck blind, she will only be 4 months, however she is making the road trip to South Dakota in two weeks.

Craig, good to see you are getting Nellie out in the field. I am sure she will be excited. How long does it take to drive to SD from your house? Jim
