Easter is always a good time to reflect on things.
I saw your new SBT on GB and I think you got her at a good price. JMO, if it were me, I'd send the back end of the gun to a good Fox stock man and ask him to mill out and replace the filler piece behind the top tang with a piece of matching walnut, replace the pad with a genuine S W Silver's, and bleach/restain/refinish the wood to match the forend. Also the fancy swirling on the cocking slide and sides of the barrel flat are not factory and I have to wonder why that was done on a relatively hidden part of the gun? It might be indicative of additional work on the barrel or inside the mechanism, and you might want to get that checked out by a good 'Fox smith.

Thanks Frank,
I'm thinking of doing just that! For now I want to just shoot it a few times at the Trap Range.

An AHFCA research card may show who the initials refer to. It may be interesting information.

The initials were of the prior owner in Iowa. I'm going to sent the gun to Dan Morgan in VT. Dan has done some excellent work for me in the past.

It my be
your second Fox sent to Shapleigh Hardware Co., but looking through just the cards I looked up for members when I was on the board, I'd put Shapleigh in a distant second place to E.K. Tryon for number of A.H. Fox Gun Co. shipments,

Thanks for the info! I was just surprised to own two A.H. FOX Shotguns from the same Store. Here is my 20 Ga. Sterly. I got a factory letter on that one.

I just got it back from a restocking of the rear end. The original was damaged so badly Dan Morgan in VT restocked it. recut the checkering on both the Stock and The Forearm. I shot it today at the Trap Range in Foster, RI. I had a bit of trouble at the 25 yd position, but it was much easier at the 16 yd distance. Thank you all of my fellow FOXERS for the information passed on to me. Brian

I can 't read the initials with the glare. Just happen to have my twenties ATA books on the desk. Give me the initials and I'll try to find the name.
