Fox Collectors

No new posts here since Monday morning, not even replies to Rabbit's question?! Is everybody on vacation, or did admin issue a secret password and nobody's telling me?

Guess everything anyone wants to know about Fox guns has been stated.

Well, I'm still hanging around waiting to hear little gems of wisdom re. Fox guns. Knowing very little , I haven't anything to add that isn't already known. I am getting ready to get another Sterlingworth stocked now that the tang has been straightened & frame scaloped & rebated. That's the easy part --- the engraving comes next & I haven't the faintest idea of what I'll do on the frame. Won't be any gold inlayed on this one --- might just engrave it with a 3/4 coverage on Eng. scroll. All suggestions welcomed. Ken

I keep popping in to read any new posts. I finally got a few Sterlingworth 16ga guns as guinea pigs. Both Philly 28" guns. One I purchased from a member of the forums here. It's an action only with a partially dissassembled barrels. Also missing forend iron & extractors. The price was right for a learning project. I'll be revisiting the SW extractor/ejector post when I start building parts for it. Not today though.

By building parts ---- you do mean collecting them rather than making them I assume ? If it's the latter, my hats off to you ! ken

Some people have accused me of building parts the hard way. In jest I've told others I start making parts with a shovel in Northern Minnesota.

Always looking. Havent gotten anything to speak of lately. I prefer to read the posts of the gurus on the site and learn. I am better off reading and learning than trying to act like i know much about these guns. having a bunch of them doesnt make me an expert thats for sure.

Dog days or Fox days? Got pm reply re: "lunchbox" SBT via DGSBBS. Not much there. Mention of Fox SBT barrels being used to construct pressure test guns; market value estimate 5C. The illustrated Fox disassembly procedure which Mike Campbell has on here is very good. A shortage of the "sticky" over there, except for obituaries of course.

Well, I received a Fox 12 ga., 30" dbl yesterday that I bought on the net. The ser. # is 465 and it has three screws that hold the trigger plate down. Bores are great --- needs new stocks, all surfaces are clean of finish which is okay as I will attend to that when gun is restored. This piece has dbl triggers and extractors & a little engraving. Maybe not much but I'll enjoy bring her back.

Ken, sounds like a nice old Philadelphia Arms Company gun. I can't wait to see it finished.

Please give us all the info on #465. Maybe a few pictures. It is a number I don't have in my table of observed specemens. I assume it is an A-Grade that looks about like a VH-Grade Parker Bros. from ten feet away.
