For you front-stuffer fans, here's a few pics of a William Buchele (pronounced Buckley...news to me).45 cal. flintlock built in 1960. Buchele was one of the founding fathers of the contemporary muzzleloading movement along with other notables like Hacker Martin, Turner Kirkland (think Dixie Gun Works), Earl Lanning, Carl Pippert, etc. She sports a 42" barrel and is superbly balanced. The gun is a copy of a John Armstrong rifle, one of the gifted builders from the tight-knit, Emmitsburg School just over the PA border in Maryland. Typical of Armstrong's guns this one sports a beautiful curly maple stock, ornate patchbox,12 silver inlays--one of them an eagle design on the cheek piece-- and very deep relief carving, all of which Buchele skillfully reproduced. Can't wait to get her out on the range. (Click-on pics to expand)
