Mid West SxS Shoot

Greetings to you. My name is Jason G. Harrison and as you can see this is my first post on this forum. I would like to take this opportunity to let you know of a shoot that is in the formation process. I am a Regional Representative for the L.C. Smith Collectors Association and I have contacted our Board of Directors with this proposed shoot as well.
Over the last few years I have spoken with several SxS shooters who expressed a desire to have a shooting event here in the Mid-West. I have mulled this over and over and finally decided to take the plunge. Over the last few months I have been searching out various facilities in hopes of finding a place where the owner is eager to host such an event but that is also capable of doing a fine job.
I believe I have found the place. Just the other day I had a fine meeting with the owner of Cedar Creek Rod and Gun Club, just outside Columbia, Missouri. I shot a round of Trap with him and then he took me on a tour of his facility. His Sporting Clays course is impressive, as is the rest of his establishment.
The owner and I sat down in the Club house and discussed several different ideas on how such a SxS shoot should be. We came up with some different ideas and I think that we are on the right track. His facility hosts several large shoots each year and in the past he has held the Sporting Clays Nationals there as well as the Show Me Games, etc... He has had 2000 people there for a shoot, so he knows how to run a large event.
My reason for posting here is that I am contacting each Collectors Association and letting them know about this event. I think it would be quite a feat if we could all pull together and attend one event. The Parker Gun Collectors Association, the L.C. Smith Collectors Association, the Fox Collectors, LeFever, etc... I have just begun contacting some of the Associations as I do not yet have all the contact info I need, but it will happen.
It is undecided as of yet if this will be a competitive event or just a gathering of Collectors to shoot their respective guns, etc... We are thinking of having a friendly competition and are leaning that way, but as of yet, it is truly undecided. We have unlimited access to large "circus" style tents for displays, vendors, etc...
Some corporate sponsorships have already been discussed and I believe we are well on our way to having some really big name Sponsorships sign on. I am also in the process of contacting several dealers to see if they would bring some inventory to show and offer for sale at the shoot.
What are your thoughts on such an event? If there is a good amount of interest...we will continue on as planned. I have been in contact with the Fox Board of Directors and I will remain in touch with them through Silvers. Perhaps there are some members in the area that would like to discuss this with me further.
I have several meetings still yet to be held with the range owner and many more things need to be discussed and gone over. I would welcome anyone in the area that is interested in this to contact me and perhaps we could meet there sometime in the near future and shoot the course and bounce around some ideas about shooting venues.
This shoot is not meant to take away from any of the other established SxS shooting events that we are blessed to have already. It is meant to only supplement these shoots and offer just another alternative and possiblity to meet other like minded collectors and shoot our beloved guns. If we can get a variety of Collector Associations to all join in on this endeavor, it would be one for the books if you ask me!
This event is still on the "ground floor" in planning, but it is progressing steadily and in the very near future more annoucements will be made. We are looking towards next June as the proposed time frame to host this shoot. I look forward to hearing some feedback on this.
Thank you for your time,
Respectfully submitted,
Jason G. Harrison
