Well my puppy is growing up and turning into a birdawg. After a summer of pointing butterflies she is converting to quail and pheasants pretty well. I recently had a chance to go down to Mears land and took this photo of her and my son in-law looking over the border into the hills of Mexico.

It was dry this year and the population is down according to local ranchers and the other hunter we talked to but scenting conditions were tough. We found a couple of small coveys (like 6 birds) each day and just worked the dogs on what we found. I didn't have need to kill any of what we found. Beside just being in that country was worth the trip from Idaho.

There has been recent rain so conditions may improve and I hope to find out after the New Year.

BTW the gun is my 20 bore C grade.

Being part of a younger generation then most people who visit this site, on a select few pictures my thumb instinctively goes to hit the like button. This picture is one of them. Amazing photo!

Those deserts are wild. I have a friend heading to Arizona next month for the entire month. He doesn't have too many hopes of finding birds as the numbers are down, but he just wants to spend the winter away from Va and enjoy some cool dry weather and unwind for the month. He is in the construction business and January is the dead time of the year as builders sort of shut down new construction for the most part. Anyway, great photo.
