Tell us more!! Tell us more!!

We've known of the late Savage-era AE-Grade that was profiled and rebated that Dr. Brown wrote up in The Double Gun Journal, Volume Twelve, Issue 4, page 69.

Not mine. Almost made the call though. Its easily found on one of the usual sites. Maybe Im odd but I'm always hesitant to reference guns that are for sale. I'd hate to ruin a potential deal someone is working. Might be worth a card lookup for some member.

Thanks Craig, the gold shield is still there but the lop is now reported as 13 1/4". Cool indeed.
P.s. does the card back read "Gough has design" ?

That's what my old eyes read.

The rib is cut narrower than normal, an unusual feature in my opinion. How did that gun survive the Vintagers? Maybe G&H purchased it there.

I have seen great variations in rib widths on Foxes. Here is a link to a thread about that from several years ago:

Is there a possibility Gough engraved this gun ?

My gut says no. Unless I'm missing something, the only thing unusual is the rebates and profiled frame. And long forend.

Would a set screw to the screw under the top lever be characteristic to X grade finish work ?

I believe so. Never seen that set screw on a C grade, but maybe others have.
