What if barrels don't "ring"?

I suppose that means a rib is coming loose. Would that mean the gun is in a "don't shoot until you get it fixed" condition? Any recommendations on gunsmiths that can fix this?

i think it means have it checked by a good gunsmith, i think any of the double gun guys regularly mentioned here would be a safe bet Kirk Merrington seems to get a lot of barrel work recommendations
