While browsing the auction sites a few weeks back I found this beauty in a gun shop in Maui. The few photos looked
pretty good but I had never bid in an on-line auction before but thought this might be a good place to start.Imagine
my surprise as I was the only bidder.Perhaps the cut stock and funky recoil pad kept others away but I saw a gun
that would look a lot better with a minimal amount of work. It's a 1910 B-grade with ejectors.Plenty of case color
remaining for me,the lever sits way to the right and the ejectors work perfectly. Can't say as there is a lot of use
for a shotgun on Maui but I know there is decent bird hunting on the big island.
Got a copy of the factory card,it was completed on March 29th,1910.Built for stock it has 30' Krupp steel barrels with
ejectors but unfortunately the stock had been shortened.Having a period pad put on will solve that problem and I
think that will be covered up with a leather slip-over too. I sent several pictures to Researcher to post for all to see.
I really like this gun!Sure wish I knew how it ended up so far from home.

You can now post the pictures here directly yourself.

The Remington Society forums and the PGCA site also have this feature. No longer a need for a photo hosting site. Photobucket has attempted to hold their users hostage for third-party hosting, so everything in my account has been deleted.

My first CE-Grade Ansley H. Fox came out of a pawn shop on Hotel Street in Honolulu back in 1971. It lettered to a dealer in San Francisco, so pretty easy to imagine it getting to the islands. One of the finest Parker A1 Specials was for Wah King Thom, a wealthy customer in Hawaii.

I just noticed something kind of neat about the last two Foxes I picked up.The early B-grade I got off Gunbroker letters as
having been completed on March 29th,1910 and the Sterlingworth pin gun I found at a show last year was completed on
March 28th,1911 almost exactly one year later.Installed a period Galazan pad on the B (my first attempt at such a thing)
and must say it turned out pretty good.A belt sander and some patience is all it took.

Great gun SPE1 The early (1st gen) B grades meet my definition of true American Folk Art, what with their sometimes unpredictably ornate engraving patterns and execution, along with their "kiwi-like" small game birds. Kevin
