ROUX - Assistant to New Recruit - Margaux
ROUX - Assistant to New Recruit - Margaux
We added Roux to the household recently, she is 12 weeks old and a lot of fun so far. The heat is killer right now so working on basic discipline and swimming and not jumping on the older dogs. Fall is coming.
My WPGriffons are aging along with me. I decided this summer it was time for a new recruit to provide some bench strength,we picked up the new pup a few day ago. My wife spent the last week introducing the pup to the existing group and keeping order at the house while I am at work. I am fortunate my wife is a dog person, without her I couldn't have the dogs and hunt like I do. Sire and Dam are NAVHDA Prize 1 Utility dogs, Margaux the pup shows lots of promise, looking forward to spring training and next hunting season.

My NAVDHA Wirehair, Eva, is very impressed with your picture. She is 11 years old, but has been in the field for three days in a row now. I can't walk enought to hunt, now, but we get out a few days a week to exercise.

Yes the WPG is a versatile breed, you could use them to hunt waterfowl. I have hunted wood ducks in smaller swamps with my dogs. I enjoy and primarily hunt woodcock and ruffed grouse with them. They swim well if you expose them to water, I exercise my dogs in our swimming pool in the summer. They do not have the body mass of a Lab or Chesapeake Retriever, they would not make a good cold weather waterfowl dog though. My dogs all retrieve well to hand and love the water.
If you are interested check them out at the AWPGA website.

Re: New Recruit - Margaux
Margaux at one year, shot grouse and woodcock over her last season, some PA Game Land pheasants and 30 plus preserve pheasants. She is doing well we were out for a run a few days ago.

Yes I can recommend several (Korthals) Wirehaired Pointing Griffon breeders, if you are interested send me an e-mail at cbsandlfs@comcast.net. If you want to do some research I would look at breeders with sire and dam that have strong NAVHDA testing backgrounds and pedigrees. The breed organization AWPGA has a breeder referral area and you are able to research specific dogs from the site. Here is Jack, Finn and Margaux waiting for grub.
Thanks
Chris
