With a serial# <7500 it should be a first year gun (1907). They were made in Philadelphia until 1929.

here's a link to to the list on another site...Fox Serial Numbers

Actually the A.H. Fox Gun Co. was incorporated in early 1905 and began advertising in mid-December 1905. They were located at the corner of Wayne and Bristol streets. In late 1906 they bought out Philadelphia Arms Co. and moved into the factory PAC had built at North 18th and Windrim Avenue, in 1903. It is my guess that the bulk of those cards that are missing for the early serial numbers under 7000 didn't survive tha move.

A.H. Fox Gun Co. doubles are so marked on top of the left barrel. PAC Fox double are marked on the rib similar to Parker Bros. doubles.

Marked on the rib ->PHILADELPHIA ARMS CO.,MAKERS.,PHILA.,PA - KRUPP FLUID STEEL <-

Marked on the left side and right side FOX

Marked on receiver flats PAT AUG 16 1904

I think this is a 1905 or 1906 gun.

Can someone give more information?

Thank you. How do I go about establishing value for insurance purposes?

If I owned one gun valued at between $1000 and $2500, like yours, I would take a couple of pictures and worry about establishing value after a loss. Any insurance company would certainly not hold up a payment on such a loss just because you didn't have a written appraisal. To get an idea of value in this site, post some pictures.l

Well, you stated you recently bought the gun. That's likely how much it's worth. For further reference, I see PAC A grade guns for sale a couple of times a year here in SE Pa. Most of them in well used but sound condition go for <$1000 if they sell at all. In "collector condition", that is ALL original with significant case color perhaps twice that.

The price someone pays for something and the value of that item are sometimes vastly different as in this case. I will work on posting pictures.
