Supper Fox

Hello everyone I am a new member an I have super fox #22786 I bought It about five years ago never have shot it but like it verry much It has 32 inch barles an straght hand stock think it was maid in 1922 it says barles not garrented see tag. i was wonting to now If Bert Becker bored all super fox barles. Pleese Help

Does anyone know what the first HE serial number is/was? My research into the Super Fox serial numbers, now misplaced, showed my serial number, in the late 27,000 range, to be the first gun in the "second batch" of HE guns numbered. The "first batch" was also in the same range as I recall, but I may be incorrect.

I'm sorry about the serial number on my super fox it is #27286 around 1922 I think I have a letter on it it was sold in 1923 just wonderd if Bert Becker did the early gun barles.

Welcome aboard. You will find tons of knowledge on this board and it sounds as if you have an very nice Fox. The Super Fox is a much sought after gun these days and you are very fortunate to have one in your possesion. Your gun does raise some questions however, that 22786 serial would put the gun as built around 1915-16 era which would be early for a Super Fox . Are you sure of the number? I have seen guns that have early serial numbers that were delivered years later from other guns of the serial# block but in the case of a super fox unlikely. Most of the early Super Foxes are in the late 27000- 28000 serial range. Do you have a Factory letter on the Gun? How is the water table of the action marked? Grade? patent dates? If your gun is a Super Fox it would be a very interesting research project. PS If you have any pics we sure would love to see them? Paul

waterman, I see you changed the serial while I must have been typing my reply that still may be one of the first Super Foxes. Maybe Researcher will chime in. Im sure he might have a good indication of the earliest serial #s . Paul

I have kept a little bit of a record of HE serial #'s and the lowest I've come across was 27800 well worth getting a letter from Mr Callahan if 27286 is indeed your serial #

Paul yes the supper fox did come with a factory leator teh table is stamped barles not garenteed see tag also HE searal# 27286 not sure on patton dates I'm at work and do not have the gun in hand but will look tonight and will get back to you on that. i did reed in Macontosh book that a supper fox #27282 was test fired and it did not do so well on petterns
this is in AH Fox book on supper foxes. I bought the gun from Iver Beads about five years ago it was some one else is gun they were trying to sell it has a brosure with it about the pattern and shot range I thought that was nice to have with it to. I'm sure you now mare about thin than I do I have a lot of questons on it . Paul it also has a crushed recall pad I never have changed. As for the water table I now it has not have 3" stamped on it so I wous say it is 2 3/4 this is what Iver Beads told me PS Iver Beads tryed to buy the gun back about one year ago I was buying a LC Smith pegon grade gun from them. nice talking to you Paul by the way my name is Donnie

hello guys agin I'm sorry I don't have the gun in hand I'm sure the #is 27826 not 27286 this is my first time on here to day little nirvis but after I seen the loest 27000 it is 27826 plese bare with me I will have more Info tomarrow but it is #27826 Sorry guys Donnie

Paul and whoever might be interested, the first Super Foxes were not numbered at random. The first batches were numbered together in groups of 25, if I remember correctly. So the first 25 would have been 27,800 to 27,825, then a break for other guns, then another 25 from 27,850 to 27,875. I may be wrong about the 25, it may have been 50. If Donnie's gun is really #27,826, my original theory would not be correct, obviously. I have misplaced my research notes and now can't remember how long they did it this way. When I had access to the records, I had no access to a copying machine so had to hand write all my notes and it got a bit confusing.

With regard to Becker boring the barrels-Mr. MacIntosh indicated Becker bored most of the Superfoxes. Mr Kidd wrote that he had a letter from Becker stating that he only bored a few. Perhaps a factory letter would help on this individual gun. I would hope that you would shoot the gun on occaision.

Waterman stated the barrels say not guarenteed. I was under the understanding that this had to do with the patern of the barrels. If the barrels are not guarenteed would becker have worked on these guns?

hello guys sorry yesterday about the searal number i looked last night it is #27826 as for barles not gantered you may have a point about Becker on this eather way i really like the gun. Woud you guys change the recall pad it is oregnial but crushed flat?
