Silvers, I just read "More or less a Superstar" and I love it. Great article and the subject gun is absolutely beautiful. Whoever owns that gun is a lucky person. Thanks for sharing your perspective, and the pictures. Have a great 4th of July weekend. Jeff

Yeah congratulations on the excellent article, Silvers. Very enjoyable read and I completely agree with your points. I think the Supers are fascinating and enjoyed the one I had, but a standard frame with with heavier 30's or 32's always suited me much better. I hate to admit it but I'm not a qualified 70 yard waterfowl shot!
Thanks for the great piece.
Tim

I got mine today in eastern PA.
Frank, great article. As an owner of a B and an HE, I could only imagine how sweet that gun must be in the flesh.

Very good piece, Frank, and especially interesting to me, as I shoot a second-generation 32" BE Fox as well. I, too, find the lighter weight appropriate for some of the little duck swamps I frequent, where woodies will drop in like an out of control missile. Also, on a dove field, it is so much easier to "catch up to" a 60-70 mph dove with it than with a 9 lb. + gun. Nothing takes the place of my big Super for green heads in the flooded tall timber, but I do love an 8 lb. gun for the faster stuff.
Thanks for taking the time to put together such a great article, and with such fine photography.

Frank: Nice presentation of a beautiful BE Fox. I am not sure I agree the BE's intended purpose was a waterfowler it seems more like a target gun to my way of thinking based upon the long barrels, straight stock, high dimensions, etc. etc. But as you said just one man's opinion and if works for you that's the bottom line. I appreciate your efforts, great photo layouts and opinions. It is a labor of love writing for the DGJ. Thanks from the Fox addicted.

Thanks everyone for your feedback. The BE is my gun and actually I've owned her twice. Once sold to help fund another Fox, regretted it almost immediately, and was happy years later when the gent offered her back after his collecting focus had shifted. This BE was at the Northeast SxS last month, some of you may have seen her there. She predates the earliest Super-Fox by more than seven years, and while it's only my opinion, the combo of several factors cause me to think she was ordered as a wildfowler rather than for the traps. Factory chokes are Mod & Full. The stock has 2-1/4" drop and most trap combs are higher than that. Also the LOP is 14-1/4" and trap stocks tend to be longer. Then there's the special order to:
strike 2 ounces off the muzzles and load stock by 2 ounces (with a lead plug) = the original purchaser was into swing dynamics. Also the stock and barrels have some wear consistent with hunting use. Just for comparison, this BE has quite similar stock dimensions to s/n 31088, the famous Bo-Whoop which was a higher stocked, straight gripper as well. Craig is correct, it's a labor of love doing DGJ articles; it's nice that the Journal and its authors are documenting this stuff for postertity.
