CE triggers will pull on snap cap but not live ammo
I had a CE fitted with a set of shotguns from another gun, as well as have the receiver casehardened and new wood. When I finally got the gun back after almost 5 years, the triggers will pull on snap caps or an empty chamber, but not on live ammo. I tried B&P, RST, Win AA and others with the same result. The new barrels were most likely honed at the breech end for a close fit. I'm thinking that the process of fitting removed enough metal to reduce the rim rebate and therefore the headspace. The only reason I can theorize for the difference between live ammo and snap caps which appear to have the same rim thickness, is that the front of the shell is making contact with the chamber walls and causing an interference fit. But I don't know that for sure. I'll send the gun to another gunsmith to rectify the problem. My guess is that a chambering reamer will fix it. But my curiosity is more toward what mechanism in the Fox design prevent what may be an out of battery firing in this situation. Could someone with knowledge of the design please explain?
