I'm researching my Fox

Hello All,

I'm researching a Fox shotgun that I have acquired (long story). I believe it is a A Grade from the Philadelphia Arms Co. with Krupp Fluid Steel Double Barrel. Serial number is stamped in several places as 220. Pat. number dated August 16th 1904. It has FOX engraved on the side (forgive me I'm actually a newer gun person). It is in pretty good condition and appears to have its original parts. I've looked at some of the other pictures posted and it looks very authentic. I'm not looking to sell it (I am giving it to my boys when they are older because it belonged to their paternal great grandfather) but I am curious as to what it is worth. I will attach pictures as soon as I figure out how.

Welcome aboard.

To post photos here, one first has to have an account on a photo hosting site such as Photobucket.com then load your photos there. Then pick the photo you want to post here and in the box that appears to the right of the photo with several link options, click on the bottom one labeled IMG. It will briefly turn yellow and say copied, then paste the link here --

When you submit your post the picture will appear.

If you can't figure it out you can email the photos to AHFCA@comcast.net and I'll post them.

For entering this gun in my records of observed specimens , how long are the barrels? Also, does the trigger guard have the long back-strap like this --

normally found on straight grip guns? Or, does it have a short back-strap indicating it might have been changed from a pistol grip to a straight grip?

Looks like the straight grip is righteous, and has the ubiquitous break through the front screw hole of the back-strap.

Looks like at some time in the past someone buffed all the metal bright and reblued the barrels. Hope they weren't hot blued!! How long are the barrels?

Looks like it is all there and depending on how much one might want to spend on it could be anywhere from a decent shoot to restored fully. Who knows what Dewey could do with it?!?
