Fox Collectors

I was telling some friends while at the Northern, about a second gen Fox BE that was returning home. I found this gun years ago out in Iowa but sold her to help fund a really high end Fox. I always regretted doing that. Just recently the kind gent asked if I wanted her back because he had moved to another gun focus. Of course I jumped. She has a really nice “honey & smoke” stock and I wanted to show that here. Cell phone pics not the best and taken after unpacking and while hanging on our stand for the hummingbird feeder. (Back lawn is all dried up from the really hot temps and little rain over the past month.) While there a ruby throat hummer checked her out and I’ve decided to name the returning babe: Ruby

12 gauge/32-inch with 1-weight Krupp barrels on the light side, and choked Mod & Full. Only 2-1/4” drop at heel. Not many second gen BE’s were made and very few with 32’s and straight grip. It’s only my opinion, that the second gen B’s looked too much like the later D Grade that was selling for multiples more. Thus the B Grade was pulled from the catalogue after only a few years. Welcome home!

That's a real peach of a gun. Congrats. May be my eyes or the photos but does the stock have a thicker comb?

Thanks everyone. Gun is numbered in the 22000 primo engraving range and was shipped in 1915 to a place in St Louis.

Mike, good eyes. The nose of the comb is thicker than some but it's not the "military comb". Also the wrist circumference is more/less standard and it's not the so-called thick wrist version of the straight grip. I've sent sent to Mr JTC for a letter to see what's on the reverse side of the record card, if anything. Time will tell.

The wood used on B's always seems too good for the B catalog price. This straight grip stock figure is most attractive. I wonder if wood was selected intentionally to make this grade more appealing?

What a gem, Graded English stocked Factory A.H. Fox. Guns are Breathless........It seems and as you can see on the early graded guns they used some great wood.. Great Fox Silvers and enjoy..
