If you see the steel keels at the end of the barrels it has not been cut. Nice gun!!

I wouldn't spend the money for a letter on this gun just to check barrel length. They have been cut. No keels for one and the barrels don't appear to be crowned. More like flat, from a saw cut.

Fox was known to cut barrels to achieve a special length or choke. When they cut barrels, I doubt that they bothered to reinstall a keel. Many Fox barrels do not meet at the muzzle. $35 is not much money to clear the air. A gun in this condition is worth a letter anyway.

Yes, I believe Fox, as a reputable manufacturer in fulfilling factory requirements as a completed shotgun, would install keels, which would actually be easier than filling the void with just solder. And the letter won't be worth it if it says 28" barrels.
Besides, a letter will contain very little information, especially for a Sterlingworth.

If the letter says 26 1/2 or 26, the letter would be an outstanding addition to the gun. I think I will order letters on all my Sterlingworths, "Just because.".

That is the most common Sterlingworth made. I'd check Gunbroker for what they are actually selling for, but I would think in the ballpark of $500-700 dollars.
PS. Don't go by asking prices on GB for Sterlingworth 12 gauges go by what they are selling for. Some of those guns have been on there for months and have not been sold because the asking prices are too high.

That wood has all the characteristics of Juglans Regia. Sourced in Missouri? You're lucky.
