Fox Collectors

Hi everyone,new to the forum and new to classic American doubles.I have picked up a nice LC Smith and I am looking for a Fox to go along with it.
Was at a local gun show yesterday and found a nice 1910 Sterlingworth 12 guage,seller described it as a Parker pin gun and I see from the main site what that is.Gun is in great shape however it has been refinished,the wood has been refinished and checkering recut,finish is to shiney for my tastes but looks well done.Barrel's have been reblued nicely,no casecolers remain on receiver.
I did not buy it at the time,the seller is local and I am thinking of going to his shop to get it,could get it for 900.00 which seems a fair price.I guess my question is does refinishing hurt the value much.

You must not only look at the quality of the refinish (apparently not too professional in your case), but you must also look beyond the refinish to determine how badly used and abused it was before the refinish. At the price you mention, you should be able to find a fairly low mileage original gun. If this gun passes your inspection, it is not too far from being fairly priced. Don't expect to get all your money back when you trade it.
