Re: MY NEW STERLINGWORTH
Nice Fox-Sterlingworth Brush. Congrats!!
Are you saying 1934 because you have a letter on it or just from the published serial number chronology?

Re: MY NEW STERLINGWORTH
Researcher, just from the serial # listings. Should I get a letter? And you refer to it as a "Brush" Gun. Were they made in that time frame? I have shot a few rounds of Skeet with it with 2 1/2" RST's and those chokes were made for that game. It smashes clays. Cant wait to get to the New England Grouse and Woodcock woods with it this fall. Thanks, Steve

Re: MY NEW STERLINGWORTH
From 1911 to the end, 26-inch barrel Sterlingworths were a "Brush" gun. The 28-inch was the "Field", the 30-inch "Standard" and the 32-inch "Trap."
Savage didn't use the terms Brush, Field, Standard and Trap in their catalogues after 1930, but those terms are on the production cards to the end.

Re: MY NEW STERLINGWORTH
A lot of them do.Did the Utica guns have a more rounded trigger guard with more space between the triggers and guard?

Wow that's in amazing condition! Where in NH are you? I hunt the north Haverhill area quite a bit.

I live in Gilford, next to Laconia, in the Lakes Region. I am a Licensed NH Hunting Guide and guide hunts here in Central NH and also by my Camp in Pittsburg, NH, in the very northern part of the state next to Canada.
Re: MY NEW STERLINGWORTH
I also have a 1923 brush 5lbs-15oz, its a sweet thing with tight chokes. Are you a grouse hunter? If you are how was this past season in pittsburg NH, I hope to hunt there one day. SXS ohio

Good guy and a good guide. Has a wonderful bird dog by the way. "Star" is his name (the dog).nhunter wrote:I live in Gilford, next to Laconia, in the Lakes Region.
