Can Anyone Identify my Fox

I was given my grandfathers Fox some 60 years ago and enjoyed hunting birds with it. I retired it some 20+ years ago and have kept it in excellent condition. I am seeking someone who can identify it and give me an idea of it's value. Here is the info I took off of it:
12 Gauge Double Barrel
S/N 1824
Pat Pending Aug 16,1904
Stamped " Philadelphia Arms-Krupp Fluid Steel" on center rib of barrels
Lettered "FOX" on metal area on receiver
Light engraving
Appears to have original Walnut checked stock
If photos needed I can have someone take them and forward.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Sounds like you have an A-Grade Philadelphia Arms Co. Fox double --
http://www.foxcollectors.com/ah_fox/con ... _arms.html
To date, after over two decades of recording information on observed Philadelphia Arms Co. Fox doubles, it appears they probably made less then 2000 guns. The highest recorded serial number is 1845.
If you can get some digital pictures of your gun and can't figure out how to post them here, you can send them to
AHFCA@comcast.net and I'll post them.

Thank you for your reply. My gun resembles the one in the photo you sent, mine seems to be in better condition. What would be the value (low to high)/

Depends totally on condition. Post some of the best clear digital pictures you can of the gun from all sides including the action/barrels/forearm when taken apart and then we can give you a better idea. Condition is everything on these guns. In some ways, almost the same as grading coins.

The Philadelphia Arms Co. FOX doubles don't seem to have a great demand. Some collectors feel a need to have one in their collection. A-Grades tend to languish on GunsInternational or Gunbroker at $1200 asking price. On the other hand, the only known D-Grade, which is pictured on our site, just sold for $20K at the recent Julia's auction.

The P.F. DuPont E-Grade that I did
The Double Gun Journal article on came up for auction some years later and has since dropped from sight. The C. William Haywood E-Grade that J. Douglas Tinsley did the article on was at one time, I believe, owned by our late friend from Executive Buying Service. I just assumed they both now live on Needle Drive?!?
I seem to recall that in one of his articles T.K. mentioned having had the opportunity to examine an H-Grade, but the Es are the highest I've ever seen. Have never heard of an F-Grade surfacing.
