Fox Collectors

Fellow Forum member "al" brought a very special early CE 20 gauge gun for us Fox guys to "Drool" over at the Greenwich show. The gun is the 2nd 20 bore ever built and shows some very special worksmanship. Here are some pics of #200002 and its proud owner "al". Sorry for the poor picture quality but its the best I could do in the lobby at the gunshow. Note the hand engraved barrel stamps and flats. Toolman and I came to the conclusion that this gun must have been on Display at the Fox tent at the Columbus, Ohio Grand American. Thanks again to "al" for bringing such a fantastic gun for others to see. Paul

Al really gave us the treat of the show when he showed up with the ultimate palindrome gun. The water table and barrel logo engraving is just outstanding. More ideas for my project Becker. It's getting more expensive all the time. Al, I guess you know your gun was voted "Best of Show" not only by the Fox Collectors but by the guys at the PGCA tables as well. However, being a young guy, you don't know what a rise you got out of us when you mentioned "getting a haircut". It has a completely different meaning among us bluehairs. Nice to have met you. The b&w pic of a similar watertable is in The Double Gun Journal, Volume One, Issue 2, page 82, and the gun is 200001.

P.S. The gun pictured here is actually the third graded 20-gauge as there is a DE-Grade serial number 200000. It was featured in The Double Gun Journal, Volume Six, Issue 1, page 39.

"Best Gun" do I get a trophy? I am so glad that I can share this gun with you guys its been hidden in my father's gun cabinet since the 50's and to share it with people who appreciate it made my day.
I would like to attend the shoot in Md when it comes around so please keep me informed.

I am sorry I left early and missed meeting you and seeing you C. I really like the way the frame is filed and the shape of the engraved oval. It appears pigeons are engraved on one side what is engraved on the other. Also, nice stick of wood, they put some great wood on the early Fox guns.

Beautiful gun! I am sure you enjoy knowing it was your fathers. My son carried my fathers model 12 this year. Dad wanted to keep hunting but was physically unable. He is gone now but I know he was watching when my son bagged a wild rooster with his old shotgun. It is the attachment with the past that makes the old guns what they are.

What a great family heirloom. It is a lovey gun, it is one to dream about.

My only question is, what is with the haircut You kids don't know about long hair it seems. Of course at my age I can only remember hair
