Fox Sterlingworth Two Barrel Set 16 gauge

Ready for grouse season. I have completed my rescue project on this 1918 Sterlingworth. Time and neglect had taken it's toll. I removed an old pad that had been put on with a belt sander and had badly scratched the heel and toe of the stock. I glass bedded the receiver and sanded out the marks. Put on a replacement pad and gave it an oil finish. The shorter set of barrels was mostly in the white from the forearm to the breach. I removed the rust and recut the rings around the barrel at the breach and rust blued the barrels. The gun was in a period case. I have some questions about the barrel lengths. One set is 28 inches. The other set is 31.5 inches. I hope to get a letter on the gun to see if the gun came with both sets of barrels from the factory. I have posted other pictures on the forum of the barrels. Researcher suggested I post this under a new topic because I had posted it on page 8 of the topic "32 inch Sterlingworths." Will post more pictures when I get more information from the letter. Thanks to everyone who has replied for their help in trying to determine if the barrels left the shop at 31.5 inches. It is a neat little gun to shoot.

That gun looks as good as new. Good Job! From the way you talk about the work, can I assume that you did the work yourself? If so, do you do work for others?

The 32 inch barrels are both full choke. The 28 inch set has a right barrel choked between skeet I and Cyl. The left barrel is improved modified. I know that it is unusual but I have found that I really liked that combination for grouse hunting. I suspect that the right barrel has been opened up sometime in the past. Both barrels are 2 9/16" chambers. The 32 inch barrels have a #2 stamped on the barrel flats under the serial number but the shorter set does not have a #1. I think that the second set was ordered at a later date. Both are stamped as Philly barrels.
