Other than the markings on HE's, is there a marking on the action or barrel when a gun has factory 3" chambers?

Hello Birddawg, I currently own 2 Super Foxes that letter as factory 3 in chambered guns. Serial no. 31791, shipped November 1927, is stamped 3 IN directly beneath the serial number on the barrel flats (see page 219 in MM's book) with one stamping. I am always suspicous of a gun with two stamp marks. My other Super is serial no. 28399, shipped October 1923. However, this gun does NOT have 3 IN stamp anywhere on the gun. I have had both guns measured to verify their chamber length. I assume the missing 3 IN was an oversight by the factory. Hope this helps.

Missing markings of several types seem somewhat common.

I wonder if 12 bore Philly guns that were not HE's and have factory 3" chambers had any marking to indicate the long chamber was done at the factory?

I have handled three Ansley H. Fox doubles that have production cards that say "chamber 3-inch" and none were marked in any way. Two 1913 20-gauges and an early Gough style A-Grade 12-gauge.
