I finally got out with my CE after having one of the ejectors fixed. Completed my goal to shoot wild game with all of my Foxes. This was my first time hunting with this gun and I really enjoyed it. Trio of MN roosters.

What a nice gun!!! I completed my goal of using all my 16's (8) to take game this season. That included 3 16 Foxes. I then used all my Parkers, and am now working on my Foxes. I used my SW pin gun Wed., and now have 2 Utica SW 20's to use to complete the Fox slam. That sure is a special gun, it is a 12 isn't it?
Did you use a dog?--and what kind?

Thanks for the kind words. Picture is a little pixelated for some reason. Iphone didnt take the best picture this time.
3birddogs, that is a lot of different guns to find game with!! All my Foxes are 16's. This is my lightest gun at 5 lb 10 oz. Ran 2 out of my 3 dogs a springer spaniel and a cocker spaniel.
Jim, season closes 1/1/14.
Minnesota is a wonderful place. Although I love the west and Montana. Minnesota does have some really nice diverse hunting opportunities. Snow this year pretty much ended my late season grouse hunting so I moved onto roosters for the last few times out.

Milrob, the pheasant season is open much longer now than when I grew up there in the 50's and 60's. That's good for you! Jim

MilRob, that gun is a 16 ?? I am soooo jealous!!! I love 16's. My A grade 16 weighs 6 lbs 4 oz. My lightest 16 is a little Parker DHE 16, O frame, st. grip, 26" cyl/m barrels, at 6 lbs even. My 2 latest 16 acquisitions were a Lefever G grade Damascus, and a Parker GH 16 Damascus, O frame.
I hunt setters, but I think flushers are the ultimate pheasant dogs, and spaniels are so much fun to watch.

I think a setter or some type of pointing dog is in the future. Maybe my next dog. I do less and less pheasant hunting every year. I hunt the majority of the time by myself and my flushers work really nice for what I do but I have always thought a nice pointing dog in the grouse woods would be a blast.

Thanks for the kind words. I went out for a short walk Christmas eve with the CE. Arrived with the temp of -11. Too cold for the birds and I didn't find a single one. My season is ending quickly unfortunately.
