Fox Collectors

A new forum member(shoestring) and direct relative of Clarence Goldshalk ask me post pictures of the gun still owned by the family. WOW!!! Enjoy Marked as an X but sure looks like a DE to me!!

Wow!!! I posted a "Card of the Month" in the Members Forum for August 2012, which was for a gun for C.A. Godshalk, but not this gun.

First, Jonathan Engle shares his phenomenal collection and now this! What's next?

Shoestring, thanks for sharing the pics and congratulations.

Cheers,
Marcus

Jeepers, what a gun!!!!..........how 'bout that grip!! Wonder why the heck it's marked as an X???......maybe he got a break on the price. Shoestring, thanks for sharing it with us.

Thanks for sharing! What a great gun. John

Thanks for sharing. Many nice "touches" on this unique gun.

Beautiful! I'm with Marcus. From Bo Whoop to Jonathan's collection, now Godschalk's gun. We're being spoiled, but I like it!!

Thanks, shoestring.

Stan

A fantastic gun with great heritage.

Very Nice! Thank You for posting the pictures!

Wow, a very striking Fox Thanks for sharing. Interesting .... no lock screw on the top tang screw.

Mr Shoestring, I sent you a PM.

Wow, super gun - sure would like to see the factory card on it.

Here are some additional pics provided by the owner. He also advised the gun has 28" barrels, and you can see the muzzles are not engraved. I wondered about that. Woohoo, what a Fox!

What a freaking gorgeous gun!! Shoestring do you intend to keep it? I'm sure there are more than a few here who would be interested should you decide to sell it.

In any case, what a find!

I'm glad everyone likes the gun. I can't see me ever selling it though; too much sentimental value considering that it was made for my great grandfather. I'm actually a little torn about discovering that it has value; it's nice that it's valuable but now I need to insure it or tuck it away in the gun safe. It might have been better to be oblivious of it's worth and just left it on the mantle where it's been since my father gave it to me. Thanks for all the kind words and the interest in my family connection with these beautiful guns.

I can understand your attachment to the gun completely. If I had a gun that had belonged to my great grandfather no amount could buy it. As far as insuring it, probably, yes. But, if that gun were mine I think I would be checking into a traceable microchip, kinda like those you can have implanted in a dog. I'd hide it under the buttplate under a piece of walnut so it could not be easily seen. Finding an heirloom and getting it back trumps insurance money everytime.

Thanks again for sharing the pics with us.
