My girl and I are looking to relocate in the next few years and Montana is on the short list. Anyone here live in big sky country? How do you like it?

Thanksgiving in Montana is great this year. Weather is good. I live in Oregon but spend as much time as possible at my daughter's home near Bozeman . Nothing better than hunting, fishing and grandkids. Thanksgiving morning 60-70 pheasant accross the road, deer on the other side of the house, ducks on the pond and geese over head. My GWP was unhappy that my AE 16ga. didn't go for a walk with him. Winters can be cold and summers hot.

Depends on what you are use to in your current lifestyle. As mentioned it does get brisk in the winter and warm in the summer. The romance of living in Montana is often overcome by a couple of years of reality. I live in Idaho (abut 10 miles from the Montana line) but the closest major shopping (grocery, clothes, sporting goods except fly shops) is 100 miles of two lane road in Montana. Of course if you live in what passes for cities in this part of the country that won't be an issue but in general distance between places are long.
Trout fishing is great, deer and elk hunting is good if you can get permission or a guide. There is bird hunting, upland and waterfowl if you put in the effort. To say it is pro gun would be a understatement, but you won't find many doubles.

There is 6 months of great snowshoeing also :)

Personally I think I will stick around.
