problem with 12ga Sterlingworth
I have a 12ga Sterlingworth made in 1910-11. It has a problem with doubling. In other words, when I pull one trigger, both shells fire. It has dual triggers. I assume this will be an expensive problem to repair, maybe more money than the gun is worth. Do any of you have any knowledge of what causes this problem? Can you give an estimate of what it might cost to repair? Can any one recommend a good gunsmith in the Seattle area? Thanks for any help you can provide.

Jack, check to see if trigger guard bow has been bent and is touching the triggers. I had a 20 Fox that was doubling and that was cause. It could very well be swollen wood causing the sears to not fully cock. If you get a smith to work on you trigger pulls be certain he is very experinced in that type work. I have found that Foxes tend to get heavier trigger pulls than lighter in useage. Bobby
