Any one know of where or how I can get or make a trip spring for my fox sterlingworth (PA) 1927 20ga?
I purchased it at a pawn shop and the spring was missing.

Any little spring of the right size to fit in the hole will do. One of my Fox doubles, that I actually shoot quite a bit, has had the spring out of a ballpoint pen in it for over two decades.

As designed, the coil spring fits INSIDE its centering hole in the trip pin. I've seen Foxes with short pieces of common ball point springs but they may be too large for the centering hole in a 12 gauge trip pin. Yep they will fit inside the threaded hole in the frame, but not inside the hole in the pin. Note that the early Fox smallbores used a smaller diameter pin and the hole in the frame is even smaller than 12 gauge size.
Possibly you can find a smaller diameter ball point spring that will work - but even in that case it may not be ideal because they are relatively weak, and could cause excessive wear on the catch surfaces on the pin and the rotary locking bolt. The proper Fox spring is pretty stout. If it were me I'd look for a proper trip pin spring with the correct diameter and spring rate. JMO of course. Silvers

Ordered a spring from Wolff Gun Springs
www.gunsprings.com/ today. I measured the spring from my 16 ga Sterlingworth, length. diameter, coil #, and wire diameter, and they are shipping the closest thing they had. It is a Glock Striker Safety Spring. I will post the part number if it works.

I had to replace a missing trip spring in a 20g. that I am putting back together. I got a new one from a guy that I work with for CCH work. He is in CT and used to work for CSMC. The spring he gave me was the right size, new and long. You could get about 3 fox springs out of it.
