How many of those were made in the late stages of production? Saw one in 12 gauge in pretty nice shape the other day and was wondering.

That is a question no one can answer. In 12-gauges there seems to be a bunch in the 132xxx range, and a handful at the end in the 161xxx range, There may be another block, but I'm on the road and away from my tables of observed Sterlingworths. Don't have them onmy Wife's laptop. In 16-gauges they are in the high 376xxx and low 377xxx range. I've ordered a letter on a couple, but there is nothing on the card tha distinguishes them from any regular frame or drawbolt frame Fox-Sterlingworth.

I have a flat sided sterlingworth, # 132854. It was shipped from Utica on June 29, 1939. In my letter JTC writes, " This double would have been built at a time when Savage was using up available SP frames."

Could you give me the particulars on 132854 for my tables? Barrel length and whether Special Alloy or Sterlingworth Fluid? Grip capped or capless? Top Lever shape, Phily or Utica? Safety slide, Phily or Utica? Ejectors or extractor? Single or double triggers?

I checked my tables and I also have one SP-frame 12-gauge recorded in the 138xxx range.

Dave , Sorry it took so long to reply. The 30 inch barrels are choked full and modified. Right barrel stamped special alloy - forged steel
Left barrel stamped Savage Arms Corporation, Utica, NY, U.S.A. also, Proof tested - 12 guage,- 2 3/4 inch chamber-. Lever and
safety are Utica style.Wood is also Utica style, boxy forarm and no grip cap. Double triggers and extractors. Don
