A great hunting restoration with a recoil pad that needs to be replaced with a Jostam.

I like the term "hunter's restoration." Nice gun.

Hi Dave
Missed seeing you and Sam in the UP. I was there for two weeks and it was as good as ever. I didn't have the gun case colored because it had such a nice silver patina (no, it was not polished). In this case, I think that it didnn't hurt this gun to spruce it up a bit. My dogs like it too. The gun smith, Dan Cullity, was the one who used the term hunters restoration. A couple of pictures of the fruits of our labor.

Just one grouse Harold? That's odd for you. Those are great pictures, especially the third one. Makes my right thumb start reaching for the safety. I didn't know you carried a Fox....thought you were a Parker packer.

Dave, I am an equal oportunity gun carrier.. My go to gun is my VH 16, but how can one leave an old beauty like that Fox sit in the closet. Neither my Sterlingworth 16 or 20 has seen any action this season but I may get them out this weekend. I was handling my Lefever DSE 20 this morning and it is making it's case to get out. Here is a picture of heaven.

Yes sir, it doesn't get any better than that! I'll look forward to seeing that little A grade this fall.

3BIRD,
What beautiful pics and Setters! Man, do they bring back warm memories of my days chasing "pats" in SE Conn. There were plenty of birds and believe it or not we even had a few covies of quail that would manage to survive the New England winters. Still remember my first grouse flush with double ( shot a 20 ga Browning BSS back then) in hand. After two shots, all that remained were a pair of empty hulls and a few Twinkies in my shorts....LOL!!! Never knew how good we had it!! Sadly, both have all but vanished from that little chunk of the Nutmeg state, however the remembrances of those "care-free" days will last forever.
