Fox Collectors

I handled a nice A grade with factory straight stock this past weekend. Lever was to the right, barrels were on face. No apparent monkeying with the hook. Oddly, the gun would not close unless you pushed the lever too the right. I'm guessing the rotary bolt was getting in the way. I'm still new to Foxes so what does this mean? What would need to be repaired? Can it be shot as is? Thanks.

Matt, I had a similar problem with one of my Sterlingworths. The problem ended up being the little plunger that holds the lever to right was worn and didn't hold the lever open far enough. It let the hook protrude into the opening for the barrel extension. I put a new plunger in it and it works fine now.

If that doesn't make any sense, let me know and I can try to explain it better.

Thanks to both guys who replied with a remedy. It sounds like an easy fix that wouldn't necessarily prevent one from shooting the gun. The final step is gathering the scratch.
