You have a home "engraved" Sterlingworth.

Nothing more or less...

Use your camera's macro setting for close ups. Makes a difference.

there is a 16bore S/W floating around that does have "upgraded" FACTORY engraving on it... saw it, with its letter at a gun show not that long ago...

Jay I saw a 20 bore Sterlingworth with engraving like that at the Forks of the Delaware Allentown gun show about three years back. The gun and engraving on that one looked to be original to my eyes. Just might be a "Friday gun" when the engraver had a little extra time on his hands. Who Knows???? Paul

While anything is possible of course, the idea that on "Friday" an Fox engraving contractor "hand time on his hands" and embellished an standard Sterlingworth on his own lacks is not credible. One the engravers were contractors on piece rate (the engraver could have done 2 more SWs in the time it took to scratch this one) so he would not have been paid for this effort and two, SWs were famously catalog stock items and just what would Fox sold this one as? Besides the engraving looks as if it were applied after the standard borders were applied and with different tools. I saw that gun at Allentown too...I've seen a 1/2 dozen more similarly "enhanced" SWs over the years as well. The zig zag border motif is easy to reproduce...
