SN 106XXX MANUFACURED 1926 28" VERY NICE WOOD, THE GUN IS IN REALLY GOOD SHAPE, NO CHIPS IN THE WOOD NO DINGS,NICE ORIGINAL SHARP CHECKERING, THE WOOD TO METAL FIT IS PERFECT AND TIGHT WITH NO WIGGLE,, NO CRACKS, SOMBODY TOOK THIS ONE OUT JUST A FEW TIMES, LOTS OF ITS LIFE IN THE CLOSET I BELIVE........
THE BARRELS SHOW VERY CLEARLY A NUMBER 3 (WEIGHT) STAMPED ON EACH TUBE, AND SOMTHING I HAVE NEVER SEEN BEFORE THE LETTERS.... LOOKS TO BE ..S B C O.... ROLL STAMPED ONTO THE RIGHT BARREL NEXT TO THE BARREL WEIGHT STAMP, I CHECK MY OTHER 3 STERLINGWORTHS AND THIS IS UNIQUE TO THIS GUN... I WOULD LOVE TO KNOW IF ANYBODY HAS ANY INFO ABOUT THE ROLL STAMP

That is the name of a steel company(which escapes my memory at the moment). I'm sure Reasearcher will know it.

Tube Makers Marks -- I have observed LLH, SB&Co., and a D with a three-lobed crown over it on several makes of American doubles -- Ansley H. Fox, Ithaca, Lefever, etc.

LLH is the mark of Lochet Habran of Jurille, Belgium.

Apparently there are two slightly different Three-lobed crown over a D marks. If the lobes are rounded it is Delcour a Belgian maker, and if they are pointed Didiere barrel works of St Etienne, France.

The SB&Co. mark is likely Sanderson Bros. & Co., a Sheifield, England, company that set up a branch in Syracuse, New York. I have found Sanderson Bros. & Company ads in old Syracuse city directories. SB&Co. was taken over by Holcomb and then Crucible Steel, but they continued to use the SB&Co. marke on gun barrel tubes.

If a post-1920 or so gun, it may be Samuel Buckley & Co. Walt Snyder has confirmed that Buckley imported barrels for Ithaca.

Would it be possible to post an ultra close up pic of the mark? or send it by jpg attachment to revdoc2@cox.net and thanks!

Just found this image posted long ago by Pete Mikalajunas; on a Lefever. I believe this to be the mark of Samuel Buckley, rather than Sanderson Bros.

Thank you! Looks to me like the Sanderson Bros. mark but without the '&' :?
