Fox Collectors

Anyone have any information on where I can buy or have made a J grade SBT butt stock? Please let me know. thanks.

Jim, you didn't say if you had a straight or regular tang trigger guard, but in either case I think it's going to be very difficult to find a Fox SBT buttstock. And even if you do, the chance of it fitting well are slim. There are subtle differences in the frame dimensions since each one was made with earlier type machine tools, operated by hand. Most any competent stock maker can do up a new stock to the original factory specs (per an AHFCA card check or Callahan letter), or to your personal dimensions. Of course it would be easiest if the stockmaker had the old stock to match the factory inletting cuts. You may know this but generally the names of good/reasonably priced stockmakers are kept "close to the chest" because they're typically booked up, and gents don't want to push their own future projects even farther back by bringing in new clients. I'm not saying that's right, just the way it usually works. Your best bet is to ask for recommendations from good friends who've had quality restocking done. IMO a Fox SBT with a goofy stock deserves a high quality factory-type replacement. As a good friend tells me every few days, "in the long run it doesn't cost that much more to go high on the hog".
