Congratulations to the Fox collector who prevailed. I have some idea about who it may be, but it is not just one name. Actually, it may not be a Fox collector and it may be for sale for about ten minutes after the auction. OOPS! Too late, ten minutes is up. I can only hope that it is one of us.

Just curious as to what amount the consignor will receive from Julia's if this Fox brought $175,000. What is a vig??

The seller was not charged a commission I have heard. The seller would get $175,000 minus the published buyer's premium. I don't remember what Julia charges, but it will be in the sale announcements.

All I know is that I was able to pick up the Burt Becker/Buckingham/HA Bartholomew letters. The handwritten stuff from BB is a slice of shotgunning history. The catalog description was good BUT these are a MUST SEE to believe....guns, shooting, hunting, personal, copyright contracts...yikes.

Definately a lucky day........cant believe they didnt get swept away with the gun. I was so busy "high-fiving" myself that I got 'em that another gun that I was interested in a few lots after blew right past me. Thats ok......these were the bomb.

Tom, now that you are the Fox Paper King, how about making me an offer for the 1915 $25 Sterlingworth Sign. I've been saving it for you.

What did the Ansley H. Fox CE-Grade Pigeon Gun (lot 1179) and the 1960 Browning Superposed Diana Gade .410-bore (lot 1253) go for?

Here is what Paul posted.
FOXIST wrote:Birdawg these are hammer prices you need to add buyers premium depending in method of payment 15-17%
Lot 1176 XE 20 bore refinished - $13,000 very nice refinish job!
Lot 1178 DE 12 bore some refinish $9000
Jess the surprise was the original XE 32" lot 1175 with high original condition sold for $6750
and Lot 1177 XE 26" 12 bore with nice original wear $4000
Lot 1179 Straight grip CE 12 $5000
Lot 1180 a very nice Parker AHE 16 bore $25,000

The 32" XE with nice original condition and full provenance was a very good buy for someone! This is the lightest 32" 12 bore Fox I have ever handled at 7lbs 2oz.Just remove the spacer and white line pad from the stock and add a correct Silvers and the gun would be back to its original appearance.

Dave, you don't even want to know what the Diana sold for. I won't be the one to tell you.

Marshfellow, I consigned the 3 lots following Bo Whoop, one of which was the papers you purchased.I bought them in the mid nineties from the person selling then for the estate. I thought they were great ,real history and I'm glad you do too.I'm not much of a waterfowler primarily a upland hunter and thought that this was the time to sell them. You now know who made those great Remington specials that were shown at the 1904 worlds fair!,and where the maker learned his trade! Hope you enjoy them . sfq
