Does anyone know of any gunsmiths that specialize in the Fox. I've got a gun with a mechanical problem & have been advised not to take it to "any old gunsmith".

Doug,
I'm sure there are several smiths who do a lot of work on Foxes, but if I needed any work done on my Sterlingworth, I would contact Dan Rossiter at PGS Gunsmithing (pgsguns.com) about it. He impressed me with his knowledge and experience with Foxes and his willingness to take the time to discuss problems and suggest solutions. He is located in north central Pennsylvania.
Cheers,

One of the best double gun smiths is Dennis Potter in Muskego, WI. 414-425-4830. Dennis has done good work for me.

PGS works on all of Franks guns'. That's good enough for me.

PGS had a substantial price increase for their work over this past winter; still excellent work and customer service, but getting pricier.

I would not say we had a substantial price increase. We increased the price of our stock making services as we were priced well below our competition for similar quality work. However, the price of all other services remains basically unchanged.
Even with the price increase we are still priced below much of our competition $1800.00 for a new butt stock and snap on (sterlingworth) style foreend finished and checkered is still a pretty darn good price.
Respectfully Dan,

I've communicated with Dan since my post, and he is a true gentleman. I hope to still be able to venture north (hectic work schedule permitting) in June to meet with him and discuss my new project. PGS is my go to place for high quality work on my few, but precious Foxes.
