Birds on the Fences

I always wondered about the origin of the term "Fences" on double guns and found a neat web link that explains it:

I had the opportunity to handle a couple of early 12 ga C grades this past weekend and noted engraved quail and woodcock on the fences of these guns.
Anyone have an early C grade with ducks on the fences?
Happy Mardi Gras today from Louisiana!
