I posted a question about two barrel sets earlier and got one reply and now the post is gone. The question was would a two barrel set (SW) always have a separate forearm for each barrel, or could another barrel be fitted by the factory utilizing the same forearm for both barrels. The one I'm looking at has both Utica and Philly barrels. Both have the same sn, but aren't marked xxxx1 and xxxx2. Just want to make sure they are truly a two barrel set and someone isn't pulling the wool over my eyes.

By and large factory done multi-barrel sets always had a seperated forearm for each set of barrels. Tom Kidd covered two-barrel sets in The Double Gun Journal, Volume Nine, Issue 3, in great detail.

I have a Sterlingworth 12 gauge 2 barrel set that I purchased several years ago from a Charleston, SC sporting goods store. It lettered: 1030xx as a "Brush Ejector" model shipped from Philadelphia December 24, 1925 to Watkins Cottrell Company in Richmond, Virginia. It was shipped with 26 inch barrels choked Improved Cylinder (R0 & Modified (L) with a extra set of 32 inch choked full & full.

Best Regards, George

Thanks all. Seems to me there would always be a second forearm. This is the first two barreled set that I encountered that didn't have two separate forearms.
