Nash Buckingham claimed the SN for Bo-whoop #1 was 31108. This gun is 31088. From what I've read, there is some doubt about the # Nash provided. They are close enough for a typo, so who knows????

was the card for 31108 lost? Its not listed in the Superfox spreadsheet.

I'll start by taking a stab at the price... i am going to say (without seeing the rest of the gun and being a real novice): 35-50K and the 32" XE: 12-14K

It is not a Super-Fox. That serial number 31108 business came from a letter Nash wrote to Edgar B. Caldwell on October 16, 1959 (The Double Gun Journal, Volume Two, Issue 3, page 37), eleven years after BoWhoop was lost. Serial number 31108 was a half-pistol grip A-Grade with 30-inch barrels shipped to Supplee Biddle Hardware Co.of Philadelphia on July 16, 1926, McIntosh page 221.

I have a question. Assuming this is the real deal, can we assume that an heir of Mr. Buckingham's has placed it for sale? If not, we could assume that it is stolen merchadise. No? As for price, alot of people consider Bo-whoop to be the most famous shotgun ever made in America. More famous than the Czars Parker, ( I'm not saying it is, but some people think so )and we know what that sold for. That kind of provenance is hard to put a price on. $287,501

I'd assume (always a big chance) that any claims to BoWhoop are settled before its appearance here on a major auction site like Julia's.

My personal opinion on the "Czar's Parker" is that Wilber used that as an advertising ploy to get some wealthy client to buy this high grade gun he was stuck with. It had been ordered by a Russian Col. and had no indications in the Parker order or stock books that it was for the Czar. The only mention of that was in the letter to the purchaser from Wilber. The Marlin pump made few years earlier for Nikki had his personal mark N II in platinum on top of the receiver, the Romanoff double-headed eagle crest in gold on the right side and a Russian bear rampant protecting her cubs on the other.

If it's the "REAL BO-WHOOP" SN31088 that I saw two years ago I predict that it will leave the "Czar's Parker" in the dust. To be sure it's got to be: "HE Grade, 12 gauge, 32" barrelsw choked full & full, Stock 14 1/4" pull, 1 1/2" DAC, 2" DAH,, weight 9lb. 9 oz., straight slender grip stock, half oval, Hy Gain recoil pad, XE style stock & fore arm, XE engraving, full round comb, pitch-2", cast off 1/2", chambered for 3" shells for #4 chilled shot, largest ivory front sight, small ivory rear sight 10" from the breech, Shipped from Fox Philadelphia, PA factory May 27, 1927. Original consignee listed to be Nash Buckingham." (All this taken from a copy of John Callahan's letter dated April 4, 2006 to the present owner whose name was deleted) When I saw the gun it was being restocked to duplicate the original which had been broken and repaired and was present. I wonder if the original stock will be included in the sale?

I was looking at the pic I may have thought Burt Becker may have engraved "Maid For Nashbuckingham' By Burt Becker" looks roll stamped to me.

I can't stop looking at the gun sure looks real to me.

The markings on the barrels look rather amateur to me. They are stamped, but not roll stamped. They appear to have been done with individual metal stamps. They are quite uneven. I've used my share of metal stamps, and while not always easy to align, I'd have expected better for a gun of this stature. Thanks for the photos, very interesting!
